Sam's House was conceived as a masterclass in minimalist architecture. The project drops traditional ornamentation in favour of bold geometric forms, exposed structural elements, and a monochromatic material palette that resolves into precise, light-cut volumes by night.
Modern Lao Homes delivered the complex concrete finishes and large-scale glazing units. The challenge was the perfectionism minimalism demands — every cantilever, reveal, and plane has to land exactly, because there is no ornament to hide a mistake behind.
The street elevation reads quiet, almost defensive; the courtyard side opens completely. That contrast — closed to the road, open to the garden — is the architectural argument of the house, and it holds across approach, courtyard, and night views.
