“The clearest evidence is a client speaking after the build.”

In their own words Modern Lao Homes
The MLH Project Portal

Your build, on a single screen.

Every Modern Lao Homes client receives access to a private digital project portal — a single place to follow the build in real time, from anywhere in the world.

The portal replaces the WhatsApp scrum that defines most builders' communication. Photos, drawings, payments, variations, and decisions are all in one place — versioned, searchable, and permanent.

You log in. You see the build. You see what is paid, what is pending, what is next. You can raise a question and watch it get answered. You can approve a variation and watch it flow into the schedule.

What's included

Six capabilities, in every project.

01 · Live site monitoring

A camera at your build, on your phone.

For clients building remotely, we install a secure live camera at the active site, accessible through the portal — so the house you are building in Vientiane is never further than a tab away. Daylight feed during construction hours, motion-only recording overnight.

02 · Weekly progress reports

A site supervisor narrative — every Wednesday.

Each Wednesday, you receive a written progress report from the site supervisor — what was done this week, what is next week, what (if anything) needs your attention. Photographs attached. Plain English. No corporate template.

03 · Transparent payments

Milestones, amounts, and approvals — all visible.

Your payment schedule is published in the portal from day one. You see every milestone, every amount, what has been paid, and what remains. No surprises. Stripe-powered online payment for international clients; bank transfer for local.

04 · Variation orders, properly

Every change priced, approved, and recorded.

When you ask for a change — a different tile, an extra power outlet, a wider door — we price it, you approve it digitally, and it flows into the project record. No verbal change orders that get forgotten and become disputes.

05 · Document repository

Drawings, contracts, certificates — for life.

Every document related to your home — from the original design sketches to the final occupancy certificate — is stored in your portal indefinitely. If you ever sell, renovate, or need to verify a structural detail, the record is one login away.

06 · Direct communication

A ticketing system, not a chat group.

When you have a question, you raise it in the portal. It gets routed to the right person, gets a written answer, and gets logged. Searchable later. Better than WhatsApp for anything that matters.

Why we built this

A different kind of trust.

Most residential building, in Laos and elsewhere, runs on relationship and verbal trust. That works — until something goes wrong, and then it doesn't.

We invested in the MLH project portal because we believe that verifiable transparency is the kind of trust that scales. A home is a multi-month commitment and a six-figure expenditure. The relationship matters — but the system matters too.

For our foreign-resident clients in particular — many of whom may be on the other side of the world during parts of the build — a documented system is not a luxury. It is the difference between a relaxed build and a stressful one.

Every Modern Lao Homes client gets the portal, by default, at no additional cost. It is not a tier. It is how we work.

A note on what this isn't
This is not artificial intelligence replacing human builders. This is a documentation system that lets a small team of skilled builders be more transparent and more accountable to each client.
